Our one-of-a-kind day camp for kids ages 10-15 is located at Round Mountain Creamery, our 28-acre goat dairy farmstead in Black Mountain, NC. October 10 - 15, 2022.
Our camp intends on educating campers on the hard work that goes into running a farm, and how to care for goats as if they were their own! They will learn day-to-day dairy farm necessities such as feeding, learning how to milk a goat, and the process of making cheese. At the end of the week, they will leave this experience with their own cheese that they made from start to finish, able to share their hard work with a tasty treat for their family.
RMC campers will also have conversations around the importance of sustainability, kindness for animals, and the creation of food.
The focus of this experience is for kids to get the chance to explore animal care, farm life, and cheese-making in a safe, encouraging, and compassionate environment. We believe in treating animals and the earth with respect, getting dirty, making what you eat, and having fun while you do it.
Logistics
Drop off time: 9am
Pick up time: 2pm
Capacity: 10 campers (0/10 filled so far)
Price per camper: $300 ($100 deposit to reserve camper's spot.)
- Drop off and pick up with be at our farm store (2203 Old Fort Rd, Black Mountain, NC.)
- Camper's should have a lunch packed & brought with them every day, as well as a water bottle.
- Camper's should wear closed toed shoes - rubber boots would be perfect, avoid wearind any jewelry, and wear clothing you wouldn't mind getting dirty and/or wet. Depending on the weather, other things to consider wearing include: a rain jacket, sunblock, bug repellant, a second change of clothes, heavier coats for cold days, gloves, hats.
- Bring a bag/backpack of sorts for all of the camper's belongings :)
