The foundation of our farmstead and products is the health and well being of our herd of Alpine and LaMancha Dairy Goats. Our herd is full of many unique personalities and will happily say hello during our Farm Tours.
A BRIEF BREED HISTORY...
LAMANCHA
LaMancha goats are most easily recognized by their ears (or lack of ears) which are fully functional despite their small size. These unique goats have ancestral ties to Spain and South America, but were not officially registered as a breed until 1958 by the American Dairy Goat Association. As the only breed of goat developed in the US, LaMancha goats are excellent milk producers with curious and energetic personalities.
ALPINE
Originating in the Alps (hence the name), Alpine goats are best known for their ability to produce large amounts of milk in almost any climate. As a breed Alpine goats are split into many different categories based on region and coloring, with the most prominent being the French Alpine which is distinguished by it's black and white coat. These hardy goats boast an independent, curious, and friendly disposition.
